Sings and Plays
Chet Baker
An odd mix of straight-ahead jazz with a quartet and a few tracks with strings (just cellos). All of them sound good, its just strange hearing them together on one album. Here you will find the classic Lets Get Lost in 2 versions. In the more common version, Chet takes the first solo after the vocal. Here we hear an alternate take with Russ Freeman taking that solo. It's not really an alternate take, it is just edited differently (poorly, as typical with Pacific Jazz recordings). Let's Get Lost would become so connected with Chet, yet for some reason he rarely ever recorded that tune after this one session.

Many of these tracks were released on Pacific Jazz CD's: My Funny Valentine and Grey December.
