A pretty good gig from 1982 that was not released until 1994. Some imaginative pieces here. The mournful "Lament" opens the set (a new version based on "Sometimes I feel Like A Motherless Child", not the J.J. Johnson standard).  Also here is a vocal interpretation of Mile Davis' "Four". I'm not usually a big fan of jazz flute, but Newton's flute is appropriate, especially in the pretty opening number. Johnson's tuba, however, seems clumsy on this set, and it gets in the way on some of the tracks.
