Broken Wing
Chet Baker
Continuing his streak of great sessions in late 1978, this recording was made one day before Two A Day with the same line-up, and the same marvelous result. Chet plays a haunting "Broken Wing" on mute to open the set, followed by a pretty good "Black Eyes" (although not as good as the one recorded a month earlier on Live At Nick's). On "How Deep is the Ocean", Baker foregoes his usual vocals and plays a livelier, swinging version of the tune. A rare Baker composition "Blue Gilles" is interesting, but not memorable.
